Team-ups to consider, #12

I've actually used the Power Packs Adult Supervision team early last year, and it performed pretty well, all things considered. I won't be winning any games, but it'll definitely be fun playing with them.

The Thunderbolts team was a happy accident where I set out to build a Pro-Registration team for the CIVIL WAR tourney I'm hosting this Sunday, just in case there's a bye - I plan to play with the bye player just so he can get his money's worth of action, even when it's already an auto-win. It was a happy accident because I was just randomly fitting figs in for their points, centered around Taskmaster, using characters I know appeared in CIVIL WAR, and I had no idea that Deadpool, Taskmaster, and Bullseye all played significant parts on each other's storylines. I'll be building an Anti-Registration team soon! Centered around Captain America.

An oblique tentpole team centered on a domino system: Recorder #451 declares Harley as his Engineered fig for +1 on her Range and Speed; Harley declares Abin Sur as her Puddin'; Lex Luthor KO's Abin Sur with his special trait for Willpower. Abin Sur, upon his death, boosts all of Harley's stats +2 via the Puddin' trait and Abin Sur's Passing the Power trait. All that in the beginning of my first turn. Harley and Recorder #451 will then proceed to attack the opponent with 12 Attack for 4 Damage and 10 Pulse Wave Attack for 3 Damage (with Enhancement) respectively supported by Alexis. And if Recorder #451 reaches his last click, he can boost Harley a third time, granting her another +1 for all stats, permanent Imperv, Collosal Stamina and Great Size, and the Power Cosmic TA.

It'll be so funny if I pull this off.

Team-ups to consider, #009

Arcade's Angels - Perplex and Prob galore with Support. Main offensive attack is Mind Control with Poison, and secondary is Precision Strike. If Arcade manages to roll for Arcade's Arena map, Arcade turns into a four-click god with Energy Explosion, Precision Strike, and Penetrating/Psychic Blast with Prob and Outwit and can draw lines of fire from any friendlies. Good on paper, very placement-heavy, high-maintenance technical team.

For 300 to 400 points, Avengers keyworded, Sidestep-crazy, Enhancement, Defend, Poison, Exploit Weakness, Telekinesis, Running Shot+Pulse Wave, Prob. No tactics. Good on paper!

Captain America and Victoria Hand with the Round Table for 275 points - I need maybe a couple of pogs or replace Hand with a 65-point Avengers support piece! I want to run them against the Red Skull with maybe three soldiers. We shall see!

EDIT: I realised I can use Lockjaw in his 25-point setting for the cheap taxi service!

Team-ups to consider, #005

I managed to finally pull this guy from our last case, and so now I know what all the fuss is about, and so now I'm thinking about stripped down non-Doop non-entity builds for him, and have so far come up with this -

- a placement-happy relics- & resource-negating team. Thinking about running this team with a Book-and-Hammer resource to give Gluttony some extra hitting capacity. We'll see how this build'll work out!

Team-ups to consider, #003 - UPDATE

Overall, I failed gloriously using this team with the Red Lantern Battery. The Punisher-Grasshopper strategy worked, but I was rolling a lot of duds. Thinking I need to play Punisher more aggressively, and that I need to give him enhancements for mobility and defense, instead of for range and targeting. I've already built a team addressing these issues, and looking forward to playtesting them soon.

For 300 points? Hoping Hulk's Rage tokens will function kindasorta like a resource. Thinking of adding AVX Scarlet Witch for Prob, Perplex, Support, and an 85% assurance of a fig not being able to use any team abilities.

Team-ups to consider, #003

This team features a few convergences of contemporary interests: to run a team with Moira Mactaggert, to run a half-way effective Red Lantern Corps team, to run a team using some of my earliest figs.

Basic plan with this team is Grasshopper with Stop Sign construct is a penetrating Poison-dealing map-hopping tie-up piece backed-up by Venom with Net and Nurse constructs. Punisher with Spotlight and Sniper Rifle constructs lays low racking up the Guilty tokens until he has at least three, giving him Running Shot with Ranged Combat Expert with basic 13 Attack and 3 Damage (upgradeable to 5) with chance at Penetrating if targeting only one opponent. Then Moira with Catapult construct for placement and Support. Good on paper.

A friend and I have an ongoing conversation about how to build a decent working 300-point team with Blight in it. Blight is one of those figs where you go 50/50 about his usefulness - he's 272 points, doesn't have much to offer in terms of fun or meta play, no enhancements or upgrades for potential teammates, whatever special traits and powers he does have are only for himself and also not very beneficial.

How he's costed, one would think it was to intentionally pair him with a support piece like Moira Mactaggert or Weasel - low cost, high benefits, quick to die - but his dial remains to be a bit clunky. A 300-point build of low cost figs - say, three or four Heroes for Hire figs with the HFH ATA - can easily kill Blight in less than thirty minutes.

At 272 points, you have no choice but to have him as your primary attacker. His special anti-KO trait assures him some leeway for longevity, but you only need to hit him at least twice in one turn to kill him, and he's actually fairly easy to hit as he has no Super Senses or Shape Change. Sure, he has Impervious and Invulnerability, but in the hypothetical HFH battle with Blight, Silver Sable can easily shoot him with Penetrating/Psychic Blast (and take one for the team from Blight's variation on the Mystics damage penalty) for 3 damage, then Outwit Blight's Imperv/Invuln so he's open for attack from everyone else, for maybe 4 more damage, then Silver Sable can partake of the HFH ATA for a free long ranged Penetrating shot, again for another 3 damage, and Blight will be dead, not activating his anti-KO trait, all in one turn.

Blight needs a relic or resource that will give him at least either Super Senses or Shape Change or Probability Control that never goes away or maybe Steal Energy that activates even when in long ranged attacks. Blight with Wonder Girl's Lasso? Infinity Gauntlet with three Gems?
