Post-WOL games, part four

My team is Doc Ock, Klarion, Quicksilver, and Vanisher emboldened by Pandora's Box with two Sins, backed-up by the Atom.

First game was against some new X-Men figs from the new set:

Managed to kill Magneto on my third turn, and kill Cyclops on my fourth turn. White Queen conceded on the fifth turn. The player I played against had an itch in his butt to attack me right away, so he travelled a little too close to my reach, and he also used figs he wasn't very familiar with, so he was at a disadvantage.

Second game was against a mix of old and new X-Men figs:

Managed to kill X-23 on my fourth turn, and kill Malice on my sixth turn. Held out for a bit because of some placement issues as the player I played against was more patient than the previous one so I had to overextend my usual reach past the space of personal comfort.

This build is very mobile, so far plays unexpectedly so some people I play against are a bit surprised by it. High risk alpha strike build that can attack multiple times in one turn then take things back to regroup and prepare for another assault. Quicksilver is amazing and is great bait with his Shadow token, but Doc Ock is the one who really shines.

One weakness is Vanisher - I need to give him a proper damage reducer somehow, although ESD with Super Senses and Stealth already makes him hard to shoot, but still. I also need a strategy against Fury SR builds. So far, my strategy against those is to strike first - this build has a long reach, able to cross more than half the map by the second turn to make an attack. It's a good strategy so far, but it can get very hairy fairly quickly.

Still, all in all, pretty happy with this build, with four wins under its belt. It has Nats potential.

Post-WOL games, part two

I won this game thanks to a very mobile and very efficient team. Everyone did their jobs well, and my rolls were good. I've been using Pandora's Box as a resource since it first came out so I'm pretty comfortable using it so that part was easy, but ultimately, placement and mobility saved the day - against a tentpole build like this, the strategy of choice is to out-maneuvre and out-action. Two major figs possessing Mystics TA will make the opponent wary about attacking so you can actually use them as shields for your attacker de jour. Two of the figs also have close-to-excessive high-risk-high-rewards attack powers, and a very mobile transporter, and all empowered by Sidestep and defense stackers like ESD and CR ... it's a pretty good build. I might run this for this year's Nats. We shall see! But with the KSI+Solaris build, this build makes it two potenetial builds for Nats. And I have two more potential Nats builds I plan to run!

Highlight of the game: Teekl killing Captain Sentinel with 6 BCF.

Battle Report Short #006

Hadn't played in three weeks so I felt my gaming was a bit rusty, and I was rolling 5s on average on the dice, so I was surprised I won last night's game against the Black Panther and the Silver Centurion with the weird torpedo terrain marker token, all empowered by the Phoenix Force. Hulk was an absolute beast throughout the game, even with the low rolls. Needs some refinement, but still glorious.

Battle Report Short, #002

Sandman, Cammi, Silverclaw, and Veil VS Gluttony, Firestorm, and STAR Labs Researcher with Pandora's Box - Quite amazed how Sandman's team dominated the map with Barrier and Smoke Cloud and Cammi's mines. Sandman's Poison proved to be quite the boon for taking down Gluttony, and his special Barrier/Smoke Cloud with free placement really made Sandman a very very mobile fig, while Veil's Poisonous Smoke Cloud is great for forcing opposing figs to move around the board.

What really saved the game for Sandman's team was the Sidestep+Poison combo - seeing how both Poison and Sidestep all happen at Beginning of Turn, you can Sidestep your fig into adjacency then declare Poison. It's peck-&-scratch tactic, but that's one free damage on top of an action token attack. Time to develop more strategies to accomodate this tactic.

Battle Report: John Constantine, Nick Necro, and Tim Hunter with Pandora's Box VS Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, and Trick Shot with Manifold, Justice, and Rick Jones as ID cavalry

Build:
* 300 points

* JLTW's Constanine, Necro, and Hunter with full Pandora's Box for 299 points

* AvAs's Hawkeye, K. Bishop, and Trick Shot with Manifold, Justice, and Rick Jones IDs on the sidelines for 290 points

Map:
* The Street Battle map from the Avengers FCBD starter kit

Report:

The archers roll for initiative and Bishop calls on Manifold for his +3 Speed, giving Trick Shot 11 Speed and Hawkeye 12 Speed. Trick Shot then runshoots for Constantine. Constantine forces Trick Shot to reroll his attacks twice, but they always hit. Constantine takes 3 Damage. Hawkeye then follows it up and runshoots Constantine for 3 Damage and a Crit Hit, killing him.

Hawkeye declares Energy Explosion and deals 2 Damage to Nick Necro and Tim Hunter. Hunter takes the damage, then Necro Masterminds 1 more damage to Hunter, pushing him to his magus click. Necro takes 1 damage. Both Hawkeye and Trick Shot take Mystics Damage.

Necro takes the Sloth sin, then Hunter runshoots and Pulse Waves Hawkeye for full-force 5 damage, killing him. Necro declares Trick Shot as his nemesis, then Outwits Trick Shot's Damage white power.

Manifold leaves the map. Bishop pushes herself and moves beside Trick Shot to muck up Hunter's full-force Pulse Wave. Trick Shot clears.

Hunter runshoots just far enough to Pulse Wave Bishop full-force for 5 damage. It hits and kills her instantly. Necro Outwits Trick Shot's Damage power again.

Trick Shot then aims for Hunter, rolls 8s twice and shoots Hunter straight through the heart, killing him.

Necro Outwits Trick Shot's ESD then shoots him with a Psychic Blast, damaging Trick Shot 2 clicks. Trick Shot then pushes himself to shoot Necro, but it doesn't hit. Necro pushes himself and shoots Trick Shot again with a Psychic Blast, and it finally kills him.

Winner:

Seeing how effectively offensive Hawkeye, Bishop, and Trick Shot are, it's quite a surprise how systematically they were wiped out by Hunter and Necro, despite Constantine dying in the first turn, despite not having used the Box effectively.

Green Arrows and Weasel

Build:
Two TRINITY WAR gravfeed Green Arrows for 270 points, then DEADPOOL Weasel for 27 points, for a total of 297 points.

Plan:
Thanks to the JLA TA, the Green Arrows can move around the map and it won't take any of my actions per turn, so I can devote those to moving Weasel around the map for strategic placement, and for the two Arrows shooting people.

Weasel leads the two like a sniper's spotter, always behind hindering terrain as much as possible. One Arrow will Running Shot with his special trait, picking mainly Improved Targetting across Elevated Terrain and through Blocking Terrain (and destroying it, resulting on more hindering terrain), then another Arrow moves beside them, for placement. Just repeat, and retreat when necessary.

A really simple, no resources build that has a chance to win a few games.

Addendum:
Replace Weasel with Pandora's Box with two Sins that provide ESD to complement the two Arrows' CR, set the Box to the Path of the Hunter for two Probs per turn, for 290 points.

April 2015 haul: not bad!

Finally found the AOU movie gravfeed Hulk. Thinking about his viability when teamed with AOU starter Hulk for 550 points, then maybe Moira and Pandora's Box to round the team up to 598 points.

Also found two TRINITY WAR gravfeed figs I've been looking for (and even thought would never find), gravfeed Green Arrow and Lex Luthor. I'm thinking of a good 300-point team with Luthor at 100 points and FLASH Harley Quinn at 65 points, a surprise-KO-surprise-boost team.

While Green Arrow, with those values and the two traits ... he's a bit of an asshole. Not quite WATX Fantomex, but surely more than halfway there. A very good fig to lead the initial charge.
